The works taken using the 35mm format were photographed with Ilford Pan F50 Plus black and white print film.  Exposure times vary from a few seconds to six minutes thirty seconds.  The print size is 16”x24” full frame.
The medium format photographs were again taken using Ilford Pan F50 Plus black and white print film.  Exposure times vary from a few seconds to one minute.  Print sizes are 20”x20” and 18”x24” full frame.
As I am working in the field I divide my photographic approach and interpretation.  There is “shooting large” where I attempt to capture the grandeur of nature, some ratio of earth to sky, in which I place myself.  When “shooting small” I focus on individual components, either manmade or natural.  In addition, I consider the possibility of traditional or inverted prints.  These choices are based on my ability to visualize the image.
In the dark room a range of contrast filters are used.  Contrast filters of 3 and 3½
are the most frequently used.  This provides crisp lines through sharp separation of tonal values and a three dimensional enhancement, what is referred to as “snap.”
